What course do you call home:

Rosedale

Favorite hole in the KC Metro and why:

Any scorable Par 4 (for someone with an 880 skillset).

Favorite course outside of KC:

Harmony Bends

Why do you play disc golf:

The disc golf community is my community. I feel at ease when I’m out on the course, whether it’s by myself, old friends, or making new friends. I also really enjoy imagining the flightpath of a disc, and sometimes getting it right.

It is my understanding that when we play disc golf we are competing against the course. This is unique. I had played soccer for most of my life which can foster a hostile competitiveness. With disc golf I am allowed to not compete with any other player. Instead, each one of us pays the course the respect it deserves as we compete with it, side-by-side. As we go about competing with the course my cardmates and I develop comradery in shared struggle. This shared struggle is part of what builds community. It could be a few seconds of silence after a poorly executed shot, a gentle teasing when invited, and best of all the jubilation we enjoy together celebrating one another’s successes.

Why are you on the KCDG board:

My personal mantra is “Doing that, which is within my power, to promote, and contribute to, dignity for all people.” As a volunteer in the Kansas City disc golf community, I felt like serving on the board could more closely align my actions with my mantra.
