I ask the BOD to consider publishing on this site a petition created on Change.org to halt the application of 2,4-D and a mix of 4 other similar herbicides to the turf areas on top at Rosedale park.
The UG has a contract to spray 4x/season (spring through fall) to all county owned property, including all 54 parks, and started the process in 2017. There’s been a resident discussion on Nextdoor.com, started last June, and there’s widespread support to stop it. Angel O at P&R supports the idea, as does Erin S at RDA, and the 2 dozen disc players I see during my daily walks through the park.
My perspective is as a part time tosser, dog walker, biochemist, UG Health Dept employee, and one who’s deeply concerned about the effects of toxic chemicals on our deteriorating environment. I’m happy to make a formal pitch to this body at your next board meeting.
